This program was designed to provide the ultimate conservation experience that covers key topics of basic ecology and biodiversity. If you are passionate about Conservation, people and nature then come take up this amazing volunteer opportunity now!
Living in the famous Garden Route, South Africa you will be providing assistance in a wide range of activities such as; Forest & Coastal conservation and Research project, etc. Not only will the project benefit through your time and efforts but you as a volunteer will also gain theoretical knowledge throughout the program from the various informative lectures you’ll undergo. You’ll also be involved in teaching the local children about the importance of conservation and you’ll also provide them with the opportunity to visit local natural areas.
Putting all the hard work aside, on your leisure time you can visit the nearby beaches which are breath taking or try shark cage diving! Visit the Addo National Park to do some wildlife watching or try some adrenaline Sports. This project will give you an adventure of a lifetime!

- Who Are They Looking For?
Individuals who have a passion for teaching and a great interest in children, education and willing to give back to the community. Being hardworking, motivated, mature and initiative are some qualities you must possess and living in a remote area must be something you can handle. You must have a good knowledge of English and good communicating skills. We will not tolerate smoking, alcohol or the use of drugs. Please remember that you are a guest, therefore, respecting the rules of the project and the community is essential.

Dorm style arrangement in a basic but comfortable volunteer house with amazing views. There’s also Internet Access available at the house. - Meals
Three meals a day will be provided. - Airport Pick + Drop off
You can either fly to Johannesburg or Cape Town where you will catch a connecting flight to GEORGE (GRJ), the nearest airport to the project. The project coordinator will meet you and take you to the project. Upon your completion of the project, the project coordinator will take you to the airport. If you choose to take a bus from Cape Town or Johannesburg to have a better view of the area, we will help to arrange your bus ticket which will be at no extra cost. - Ongoing service

- RESPONSIBILITIES
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Assist with eradication of alien invasive plants.
- Monitoring bird populations.
- Conducting species surveys in the forest.
- Conducting Inter-tidal zone surveys.
- Educating the local children about the wonders of nature.

- Required to commit to a minimum of 2 weeks.
- Must have an interest in nature and conservation.
- Strong work ethics are required: reliable, responsible, honest, good sense of humor, mature, dependable, physically and mentally fit.
- Must be motivated and be initiative.
- Age: 18+
- Must have a good knowledge of English and confident in speaking it.
- Good communication skills
- Required to have a medical certificate and required to have a police clearance or certificate of good conduct.
- Must be able to work as part of a team or individually.
- No animal allergies.
- Must be polite and courteous to the public at all times.
- Although not required, speaking French would be an advantage.
- Must read and agree to abide by guidelines and ethics of the project.

Day 1 - Arrive in South Africa;
You will arrive in beautiful Cape Town or Johannesburg where you will either catch a connecting flight to GEORGE (GRJ) or take a bus from Cape Town or Johannesburg to the project. This allows you to have a better view of the area.
For 2 - 4 Weeks – Volunteer at Forest & Coastal Conservation.
For a minimum of two weeks you will be volunteering in Knysa, South Africa contributing your time and efforts towards important conservation and research projects while gaining knowledge through informative lectures and various scientific research methods!
Your last day - You will fly back home or take the opportunity to travel through South Africa. Our staff will gladly help you to book any tours to see more of this great country. - Accommodation
You will stay in a basic but clean and comfortable volunteer house with a dorm style sleeping arrangement. This house has great views over the mountains and you will have access to a communal kitchen and lounge area with TV/DVD player, hot water showers and electricity and free wifi and computer access. There is also a barbeque (braai) area and hammocks for you to enjoy. If you need, private and family rooms are available on request.

Meals are provided for three times a day.
Location
This project is located in Knysna, South Africa where you will have access to all amenities including wifi and electricity. Surrounded by magnificent beaches, lagoons and mountains, this location offers volunteers the chance to enjoy the many restaurants, markets and shops. There are many activities that are famous with the many tourists that you can participate in. These include visiting animal parks, game reserves, shark cage diving, bungee jumping and so much more!
