The Experience

Venture in to the spectacular Scotland and volunteer abroad taking part in wildlife and environmental conservation in the remote Scottish Highlands to protect wildlife like the European Wild Cat, White-Tailed Eagles, European Otter, European Otter, Osprey and Golden Eagle!

With the min duration of 12 weeks and max duration of 24 weeks, you need to be committed for this experience. You will be working as part of a small team of volunteers undertaking a wide range of practical conservation tasks. This could include: the felling of non-native trees, wildlife monitoring & research, removing invasive plants, maintaining footpaths, constructing fences, installing reserve signs, building boardwalks, repairing bird hides.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    You will be working as part of a small team of volunteers undertaking a wide range of practical conservation tasks. This could include:

  • TASKS AND DUTIES

    This experience gives volunteers the chance to become involved with many different projects of wildlife and conservation effort to protect Scottish nature and wildlife. Your volunteering will take place on a network of nature reserves. There are  a wide range of reserves, including woodland, grasslands, peat bogs, coastal reserves, upland reserves and urban reserves. You will get the opportunity to work on many differnet projects on many different sites to make sure for a great learning experience for your self and in return a great help for our program.

  • Requirements, Guidelines & Policies
    • Required to commit to a minimum of 12 weeks
    • NO SMOKING is allowed.
    • Strong work ethics are required: reliable, responsible, honest, good sense of humour, dependable, physically and mentally fit.
    • Age: 18+
    • Extreme Weather, dirt and living in a remote area must be something you can handle.
    • A love for animals and nature!
    • Must read and agree to abide by guidelines and ethics
    • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team
    • Good knowledge of the English

  • Accommodation
    Volunteers will be staying in small single rooms in an aprtment compound or a local host family, this all depends on the location you'll be placed at.

    Meals

    Meals are not included but you are able to buy all your food locally. Cost for a weeks worth of Groceries should be between 60 - 80 US$ which equals around 40 GBP (of course it depends on the person).

    Location

    The location of the projects will be mostly in the Scottish Highlands and some of the other wilderness areas of Scotland. On request you can also volunteer from the Edinburgh area for those who prefer some more comfort and all the acvities a large city has to offer.
