  Three meals a day provided. At times you will be responsible for cooking your own lunch after breakfast. Depending on the activity, the cook will help to prepare your lunch as well.

  We will be waiting for you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation. You will need to fly to Whitehorse International Airport where you will be picked up.

  If there are any problems with your volunteer project we are always there to help you and mediate between yourself and the organization.

The responsibilities will differ depending on the assignment you will be given. As a volunteer, you will need to arrive to all your assignments on time, respect the culture and customs and be open minded. You will assist the archeologist and work along with the First Nation Community, do environmental monitoring and assessing and Salmon work positioning. Other tasks include:

• Monitoring Caribou Populations
• Community Ecological Monitoring and Vegetation Surveys
• Song Bird and Raptor Monitoring and Bird Banding
• Wetland Monitoring (amphibian surveys, aquatic invertebrates, water quality and soil sampling)

Fisheries work including; Grayling Surveys, Salmon Restoration, Stream Surveys and Monitoring.

Heritage Data collection and Soil Pits and Archaeological work.

• Required to commit to a minimum of 2 weeks
• NO SMOKING is allowed on the property.
• Strong work ethics are required: reliable, responsible, honest, good sense of humour, dependable, physically and mentally fit.
• Must be able to work under the guidance of the wildlife rehabilitators.
• Age: 18+
• No animal allergies.
• Extreme Weather (heat & cold), dirt and living in a remote area must be something you can handle
• A love for animals and the environment and some general experience in doing research.
• Must read and agree to abide by guidelines and ethics
• Good communication skills and the ability to work alone and in groups and Good knowledge of the English
• Must be on time to all assignments.
• A valid driver’s license would be an asset, but is not required
• Open to learning new traditions (eating wild foods and a non-colonized lifestyle)
• Respect the culture and customs
• Proof of current tetanus shot & medical insurance; Good physical stamina and health.

Day 1 - Arrive in Whitehorse, Canada;
You will arrive in at the Whitehorse International Airport where you will be met and transferred to the volunteer project.

For 2 - 4 weeks - Volunteer in Yukon at several projects! For a minimum of two weeks, you will have the opportunity to live and volunteer in one of the greatest places on Earth.

Your last day - You will fly back home or take the opportunity to travel through Canada. Our staff will gladly help you to book any tours to see more of this great country. If you would like to visit Vancouver or Toronto; we can help you with both short and longer term accommodation.

Your volunteer accommodation will be in rustic log cabins. The accommodation will be shared. There is a bed and wood stove but no running water or indoor plumbing. Bathrooms are in a separate building and there are larger main buildings in the camp where participants would enjoy their meals.

Things to bring from home

• Happy, outgoing attitude and willingness to learn new things.
• Clothes for cold temperatures.
• An equipment list will be sent to you once your placement is confirmed.

Location

The project is located 45 minutes from Whitehorse International Airport in Yukon. The area offers great opportunities for recreational activities, relaxation and cultural exchange. There is always some exciting activity to do on your days off!
